What makes a good teacher?

Teachers are important and make a difference. The quality of teaching is a crucial factor in promoting effective learning in schools. Effective teaching requires individuals who are academically able and who care about the well-being of children and youth.

For education in school to be effective, the environment needs to be appropriate to learning, allowing the pupils space and time to interact within the learning and teaching process. It is very important to create and maintain stimulating learning environments can be achieved through effective classroom organisation.

Chilean Education

Chile has state-run and private schools; all state schools provide free education.
It counts with an eight-year primary and four-year secondary program, with increased emphasis on vocational instruction at the secondary level.
Proposals are currently being considered to increase the amount of compulsory schooling from eight to ten years.
More than 90 percent of Chilean people can read and write.

Quality & Equity: Two important terms that are in the agenda.

Quality

Policy: Competitively funded school-based projects.
Supervision: Whole school, “integral”.
School: Teamwork; reaching out to community.
Classroom: Curricular & pedagogical flexibility.

Equity

Policy: Targeting the poorest 10 percent and rural multi-grade schools.
Supervision: Focused on lowest-performing schools.
School: Inclusion of all children.
Classroom: Individualized attention to students’ needs.

Future Teachers

The future new teachers will be committed to the process of change which postulates educational reform, which are able to achieve the minimum required to develop the objectives and fundamental transverse and vertical that are specified in the curriculum at every level. Generating and higher expectations of development for each of the students in their respective levels.

A professional teacher is capable of generating new and independent ideas to give knowledge to their students to create their own methods to achieve the expected learning. They have to implement games using special technology, which is a tool that is now incorporating to education and that certainly it will be crucial for the future education.

According to the objectives of the government of Chile, the faculty of the state must have the title or license pedagogue since one of the main problem of education is that many of the teachers are not qualified and therefore have no training or knowledge that a teacher requires.

We all know that computers are really useful and things are so much easier with them. Nowadays, computers are getting cheaper all the time. We can find Cyber Cafes where people have access to Internet.

Next, I will show why internet is so useful for us!

We can communicate with people from all over the world by using e-mail. We can also use a well-known way of communication that is msn by hotmail. With just one click we can be in contact with friends and relatives all the time. We can also make new friends on the internet and know about their culture.

If we get a homework to do, we can connect on the internet and it is almost certainly that we are going to find that information. We can study on-line with our classmates. There are many sites on the net that offers free courses, for instance: language, psichology, grammar, medicine, etc. This courses are so perfect for us because they have no limits on time and we can get in at all hours of the day and night.

Internet is helping us to create a new world of culture that is unifying people from all over the world. We have the opportunity to meet many different cultures from America to Europe from a Cuban to an Irish. We can share knowledge.

With just one click we can get our own favourite song and make our own albums. There are many sites where we can download music, movies, books, tv series, music videos. If you were a Robotech fan just look for the serie and download it. It's so easy and there's no need to go out and buy it.

Th internet is great for buying things. If you get your credit card you're ready to go shopping on the net. You can buy books, clothes, dvd, music nad food. If you are sure to buy something just enter your credit card information nad that's it. You can avoid the bad mood of some people that don't know how to treat you well.

Have you got something important to say? You can say it on-line. Now you can have your own blog where you writte whatever you want to. Your opinion is important for the world. If you didn't like a product, a new cd, a politician just say it. You can also create a fotolog where you can share pictures with your friends. And who knows, you can meet the love of your life.

Tsunami

The waves of a tsunami are formed in the ocean or other water sources because of earthquakes, earth slips, volcanic eruption or impact of meteorites.
When a tsunami collides against the coast, this can cause big damages.
The waves of a Tsunami are different from those that we see in the banks of the sea or in the lakes.
A tsunami can end up measuring 30 meters high and it could advance more quickly than a person can run.
A tsunami can cause erosion in the coast and it can cause floods inland. The water moves with such a force that is able to destroy houses and other constructions.

I took that picture in Constitución 2 years ago. I remember that the people had to be prepared of anything could happen at any moment. This kind of sign took my attention because it was the time that a Tsunami happened in Indonesia. Besides I've got a nephew that has been living there for about 8 years.
